The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) launches Generaci\u00f3nClima with the aim of integrating the voice of young people in the international process of fighting climate change. This pioneering initiative will select ten young university students, who will have to present a project on adaptation to climate change linked to the challenges of the next climate summit (COP27), which will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) from 7 to 18 November. This summit sets among its priorities to increase and accelerate adaptation efforts and, in particular, to advance elements of the Global Goal on Adaptation work programme and issues associated with loss and damage.
\n<\/p>\n

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) launches Generaci\u00f3nClima<\/strong> with the aim of integrating the voice of young people in the international process of fighting climate change. This pioneering initiative will select ten young university students, who will have to present a project on adaptation to climate change linked to the challenges of the next climate summit (COP27), which will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) from 7 to 18 November. This summit sets among its priorities to increase and accelerate adaptation efforts and, in particular, to advance elements of the Global Goal on Adaptation work programme and issues associated with loss and damage. <\/p>\n

The deadline for submitting<\/strong> proposals begins today, May 12 and will end on September 12<\/strong>. To participate, young people will have to present concrete projects and ideas that contribute to accelerating adaptation and resilience<\/strong>, issues that will be the focus of the African summit. In addition, an information and doubt resolution session will be held on May 26. The conditions of participation, the proposal submission form and the registration form for the information session will be available from tomorrow on the generacioncop27.es<\/a> website. <\/p>\n

With this initiative, MITECO, through the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC) and the Biodiversity Foundation, seeks to attract, select and prepare two teams of young Spaniards for their face-to-face participation in COP27 as part of the Spanish delegation. The initiative also has the collaboration of the Crue (Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities). <\/p>\n

Each of the selected teams will have the opportunity to attend COP27 for a week to learn first-hand about the debates, perspectives and visions of governmental and non-governmental actors, as well as contribute their own ideas to advance the challenges and opportunities of adaptation to climate change.<\/p>\n

Through Generaci\u00f3nClima<\/strong> reinforces the role of young people, which has become increasingly relevant since the celebration of COP25<\/a> in Madrid, which allowed the integration and visibility of young people in the international process of fighting climate change.
